I Dare you to walk in my shoes
By Ms. Lori Eve Tatarsky
Available IN paperback, hardcover & kindle
‘I Dare You to Walk in My Shoes’ is three volumes in one book. These consist of Hell, (Getting to the Route of All Evils) Heaven, (Redeem the Dream 33), and Eternity (Rev Me Up 33). The name of the book came from feelings of being unrighteously traumatized and stigmatized by mental illness and addiction. Lori also experienced long periods of shame and guilt. On a more positive note, the title comes from a place of resilience and facing her demons. ‘Redeem the Dream 33’, published roughly in 2017, was intended to be the main focal point. It was a work in progress for over thirty years of living and coping with mental illness, addiction, trauma, and loss. So the story goes. The book is a combination of poetry, narratives, and parables. ‘Redeem the Dream 33’ is about not only rediscovering and recapturing childhood dreams but also living your full potential and truth regardless of adversities.
When this book was written in 2017, 970 million people worldwide had a mental or substance use disorder. A larger number of people, roughly four percent, had an anxiety disorder. There was a strong demand for this book as a result of all the universal chaos. It is Lori’s mission to heal others while healing herself. She vowed that no matter how long it took or how many obstacles she faced, her literary works would be heard and read. It not only relates her experiences, but touches upon those of other patients so the reader can see many perspectives and viewpoints. The mission statement of the book was to create balance, harmony, and peace within self and peace within the universe; to write a book that sings with the accord of angels, getting to the route of all evils. After a difficult hospitalization at the end of 2019—which found Lori experiencing depression, hallucinations, and self-injurious behavior as well as the beginning of the pandemic---this book was born.
Additionally the book has a section on charting, where she showcases daily progress notes from Lori’s medical care team. The last volume of the book, ‘Rev Me Up 33’, refers to eternity not in a biblical sense but in a spiritual sense. Time can be a great healer or a strong prisoner. However, eternity is forever. After what would most likely be her worst Bipolar break at the beginning of 2021, Lori nearly lost her life in a fatal car accident. Once again, with the grace of God, she rose from the ashes like a phoenix and ascended into faith, wisdom, and courage. “Rev” is short for Revelation, which is the first story in the Bible's New Testament. It is here where Jesus returns from the dead. ‘Rev Me Up 33’ is synonymous with a time when, after so much heartache, pain, and danger, Lori was finally able to return from the cold death of her breakdown into light. She is finally ready to follow, live God's will, and be a vessel and testimony to others.

"I Dare You to Walk in My Shoes" — A Daring Memoir of Survival, Spiritual Awakening, and Mental Health Advocacy
I Dare You to Walk in My Shoes, an intense and emotionally charged memoir by Ms. Lori Eve Tatarsky, aka Sarai London Tailor. This book provides a raw, poetic, and uncensored glimpse into one woman's struggle with mental illness and her path toward healing, self-acceptance, and spirituality.
In this stirring and complex story, Tatarsky describes her lived experience with bipolar disorder, trauma, addiction, recovery, and spiritual redemption. The narrative takes readers on her highs and lows—childhood pleasure and artistic promise to the lethal consequences of loss, hospitalization, and suicidal desperation. But it is finally a tale of light, imparting hope, courage, and connection to readers.
About the Book
I Dare You to Walk in My Shoes is organized in three volumes: Getting to the Route of All Evil (Hell), Redeem the Dream 33 (Heaven), and Rev Me Up 33 (Eternity). Each division interlaces memoir, poetry, spiritual commentary, and cultural critique from the personal life of the author, her Jewish and Christian beliefs, and her passionate defense of people with mental health issues.
Tatarsky takes readers face-to-face with brutal facts: the death of her father from AIDS, her own addiction and self-esteem battles, numerous hospitalizations, and her eventual healing through therapy, religion, and the arts. In honest, irreverent style and with spiritual vision, the book challenges readers to consider the depths of resilience, stigma, and what it really means to walk in someone else's shoes.
